The National Disability Authority advises the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and its agencies on the implementation of commitments under the National Disability Strategy. We undertake research, engage in consultation, bring people together in forums, and hold seminars and workshops to underpin advice and guidelines.

It is our aim to make sure that, as far as possible, that as audiences for the broadcast media, as users of communication technology and as customers of public utilities, people with disabilities have the same level of access as other customers and receive the same level of customer service. We have developed universal design standards for customer service in the energy companies.
